The benign growth of the male prostate gland is called "benign
prostatic hypertrophy" in medical circles, in short, BPH.
In our clinic, we treat BPH with medication and with various methods,
which we select according to the individual diagnoses after extensive
examination and consultation.
Microwave thermotherapy, using the ProstaLund method (PLFT)
The ProstaLund method is a highly developed method of microwave
treatment. A treatment catheter that is inserted through the urethra
heats those parts of the prostate tissue that cause problems with
microwaves, destroying them.
Transurethral needle ablation (TUNA)
The prostate tissue is treated with high-frequency currents using
two very thin needles that are inserted through the urethra, while
avoiding the urethral mucosa, parallel to the tissue. In doing
so, temperatures of up to 98° C develop in the tissue, leading
to a shrinking of the tissue.
Greenlight laser therapy
The latest development in the treatment of benign prostate enlargements
(benign prostatic hypertrophy, BPH) is the development of a special
laser which, in contrast to the current laser systems, has a wavelength
of 532 nm. This Greenlight Power Laser with its particularly high
output of 120 watts has the advantage that the light of this wavelength
is optimally absorbed by blood vessels and blood-rich tissue.
Our clinic was the first in Germany to use this procedure. Almost
any size prostate can be treated with the Power Laser (=>
